FITNESS GROUP FITNESS CLASSES

The Community Center offers a variety of classes for ages 12 and up (12–14 year olds may participate when accompanied by a parent/guardian). Classes are taught by certified instructors in a comfortable setting with safety and fun in mind. Reservations are required for classes. To make a class reservation or view a current class list, visit at www.ShakopeeMN.gov/fitness . When arriving for classes, check in at the front desk, and then scan your membership card or pay the daily fee. Consult with your physician prior to beginning any new exercise program.

GROUP FITNESS CLASS SPOTLIGHT MOBILITY, BALANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL EXERCISE Looking to improve your balance, coordination, and strength? This class is designed for all abilities to improve your physical stability, coordination, and overall mobility while strengthening muscles from head to toe. This class is especially beneficial for fall prevention and for those living with Parkinson’s or MS or recovering from a stroke. Community Center, 1255 Fuller St. S. Day Time Cost Tuesdays 10:15–11:15 a.m. Free for members Day pass for non-members PEDALING FOR PARKINSON’S This indoor cycling program is designed to increase endurance, mobility, and balance. Riding an indoor stationary bicycle has been shown to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson’s by as much as 35%. This class does require a medical consent from your doctor. Please contact sfoley@ ShakopeeMN.gov to have one emailed to you or stop in at the front desk of the Community Center to pick one up. Community Center, 1255 Fuller St. S. Day Time Cost FITNESS ORIENTATIONS Get acquainted with our fitness equipment as well as fitness floor etiquette. A certified personal trainer will demonstrate and answer questions on the proper use and setting adjustments of each machine. A fitness orientation is open to all ages, but is required for all youth, ages 12–14, prior to use of the fitness center. Fitness orientations are offered each month on the first Thursday at 5:30 p.m., the first and second Saturday at 9 a.m., and the third and fourth Thursday at 5 p.m. Please see website for dates and to register. Pre-registration required; registration ends one day prior to orientation. Fee: $20. Members will receive a $20 refund after successfully completing orientation.

FITNESS IN THE PARK Stay in shape this summer with free fitness classes at Scenic Heights Park Fitness Court and SandVenture! Haven’t had a chance to try the Fitness Court yet? This is a great opportunity! Anyone age 12 years or older is welcome. 12-14-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult. Classes are subject to cancellation depending on the weather.
