Note: If applying for financial assistance, you must apply in person at Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department to complete the application. 2. IN-PERSON Registrations are accepted in person at the Community Center. 3. The Community Center offers a variety of classes for ages 12 and up (12–14 year olds may participate when accompanied by a parent/guardian). Classes are taught by certified instructors in a comfortable setting with safety and fun in mind. Reservations are required for classes. SPECIALTY FITNESS CLASSES PAWS AND REFLECT KITTY YOGA This is bound to be a paws-itively wonderful time for all who love to exercise and love to interact with animals. Enjoy the relaxation and stretching benefits as you flow from one yoga pose to another while playful kittens stretch alongside you working on their cat pose. A portion of all proceeds will go to the Carver-Scott Humane Society to help in the care of the kittens and in helping them find homes. Please bring your own mat or towel. A certified personal trainer will demonstrate and answer questions on the proper use and setting adjustments of each machine. A fitness orientation is required for all youth, ages 12–14, prior to use of the fitness center. After attending the fitness orientation, youth may work out on the fitness floor with a parent/guardian. Fitness orientations are offered each month on the first Thursday at 5:30 p.m., the second Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., and the third and fourth Thursday at 5 p.m. Please see website for dates and to register. Pre-registration required; registration ends one day prior to orientation. Fee: $20. Members will receive a $20 refund after successfully completing orientation.

Fall into Fitness Open House Saturday, September 28 | 8–11 a.m. | Free On this first day of Autumn, join us for a morning of mini-classes, membership and personal training specials, drawings, snacks, and an opportunity to meet the staff and tour the fitness floor. Keep yourself accountable during the busy holiday season by completing a variety of activities and challenges during the month of December and be entered to win personal training sessions, guest passes, and more. Pick up your challenge card from the front desk beginning December 1. PEDALING FOR PARKINSON’S This indoor cycling program is designed to increase endurance, mobility, and balance. You will progress from week to week at your own pace. Riding an indoor stationary bicycle has been shown to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson’s by as much as 35%. PARKINSON’S FITNESS CLASSES MOBILITY, BALANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL EXERCISE This class is open to all and is designed to reduce stiffness, regain mobility, and improve balance and posture while strengthening muscles from head to toe. PARK FACILITIES A variety of facilities located within the City’s parks and trail system are available for use by the public. For exclusive use of a facility for a given date and time, a shelter reservation is required and can be made by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department at least seven days in advance of the proposed date(s) of usage. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Rental fees and deposit must be paid with the submission of the reservation form.
